Got curious and did some research on the teams--crunched some numbers, thought I'd share it here:

Records of opponents:
Clintwood: 11-17 (0.393, 2-3 average win-loss)
Shelby Valley: 12-25 (0.324, 2-4 average win-loss)

PPG (offensive):
Clintwood: 32 (high of 51 vs. Coeburn)
Shelby Valley: 41 (high of 53 vs. Tug Valley)

Clintwood: 10 (low of 6 vs. Happy Valley)
Shelby Valley: 15 (low of 0 vs. Knott Co. Central/Bath Co.)

Margin of loss (both teams with 1 loss):
Clintwood: 10 (vs. Lebanon, 17-7)
Shelby Valley: 35 (vs. Lawrence Co., 49-14)***

Both teams undefeated at home, 1-1 on the road.

***Note that Lawrence Co. is a KY 4A school, ranked 31st in the state of KY by MaxPreps. Shelby Valley is ranked 98th in KY, Clintwood is ranked 118th in VA. Nationally...Lawrence Co. is 1781st, Shelby Valley is 6437th, and Clintwood is 3611th.

This is the team the Saunders used to coach. I hear they have gotten 110% better in the past 4 years from what they used to be. Sounds like this should really be a good game to watch.

On film they look very good (vs a 0-5 and 1-5 team) they are a Wishbone team for the most part but can go from that to the Spread as well as the flexbone with no personel substutions.

There Line has good size but is not huge (with the exception of there Center who is listed at 6' 4" 325)

There backs are all hard runners (Already this season 1 has 1,000 yards and the other 2 have 500+ each) There QB is also a running threat as well a an OK passer

Given that I have seen SV start out 4-0 or 5-0 before this season and end up loseing in the 2nd half of the season to a 1-9 Grundy team I am not sure how good that they really are......That being said on film they look preatty dang good

Just for clarification, this place is just off 23 on the right hand side, right? The schools visible from the road from what I was told and looks more like a college?

Don't expect to have a great time with officials. KY grades out their officials and sends the lowest graded officials for out of state contests.

I doubt it can be much worse than the normal

playing in Kentucy, I have never saw an opposing team get a fair shake.

when PV went to Breathitt a couple of years, it was terrible, almost laughable.

i had an unruly referee who talked shit back to me, and a woman who called me a fat ass haha

going to Kentucky is always an adventure.
for the Harlan Co. game, my uncle got something poured all over his truck.

Actually if I'm thinking right, the times we have been in Kentucky for games before, it seemed like there was always some issue or weirdness. I think our JV or such got told one time that they call things 'differently' over there.
